Guerrilla Girls
(American artists, active since 1985)
American
The Guerrilla Girls are a group of anonymous females who take the names of dead female artists as pseudonyms and appear in public wearing gorilla masks. Their artistic output includes posters, stickers, books, printed projects, and actions that expose sexual and racial inequality in politics, the art world, film, the music industry, and the culture at large. They use humor to convey information, provoke discussion, and to show that feminism can be funny and relevant in today's world. Their message is passed around the world by kindred spirits through their stickers and posters. - ULAN
