An artist living and working in Omaha, NE. Watie is currently the Director of the Omaha Print Makers Guild, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to the fine art of printmaking and provides a collaborative environment for both educational and exhibition opportunities to local and national artists. Watie is also teaches drawing at University of Nebraska. Before moving to Omaha, NE in 2006, Watie was integrally involved in the Chicago Printmakers Collaborative, as well as an adjunct faculty member of DePaul University in Chicago, IL.
Watie's work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including the Schopf Gallery in Chicago, IL, 5+5 in Brooklyn, NY and the DokHouse Gallery in Amsterdam. Watie's work has also been featured in several publications including the Omaha Magazine, Omaha World Herald, OYEZ Review, New American Paintings and Almagre. He is a 2002 recipient of the Stanely G. Wolpoff Award from American University, and has attended several residencies including the Kanaal 10 in Amsterdam, as well as the International School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture in Montecastello di Vibio, Italy.
