Accordion-bound folio comprising thirty woodblock prints presenting "large head portraits" of beauties from various ages in Japanese history. Each age is defined by the dress and hairdo of the beautiful woman, and by a narrative vignette appearing above the portrait head. The second volume (not in the Carleton Collection), containing twenty-three beauties, completes the set.
