- Buddhism - Refers to the philosophy and religion based on the enlightenment and teachings of the Buddha Gautama in the early sixth century BCE in the northeastern region of modern India. Playing dominant roles in the art and culture of Southeast Asia and East Asia, this religion is based on the transcendence of human suffering and pain through the acceptance of the limitations of individuality, the surrender of worldly desires and cravings that cause disappointment and sorrow, and the deliverance from the impermanence of living and individual ego based on wealth, social position, or family through the process of enlightenment (nirvana). The religion also centers around 'anatman', or no-self, the idea that the self is in a state of action or a series of changing manifestations rather than in a state of fixed, metaphysical substance. The structure of the religion is based on the Triratna ("Three Jewels" of Buddha), a tripartite schematic for living based on three elements: Buddha (the teacher), dharma (the teaching), and sangha (community).
- carving (processes) - The act of shaping, marking, or decorating wood, stone, or another material by cutting or incising, typically using tools such as chisels and other blades. It refers to this process as it is applied to small-scale objects or to objects that are not considered art. "Carving" may also be considered a sculpture technique that is employed in the creation of art.

- crowns (costume components) - The part of a hat or other headgear covering the crown of the head.
- crowns (headdresses) - Ornamental fillets, wreaths, or similar encircling ornaments for the head worn for personal adornment or as a mark of honor or achievement; also, coronal wreaths of leaves or flowers.
- decorative arts - Refers to works that are primarily utilitarian in form or function, but that have aesthetic value provided by the design, decoration, or embellishment. They may include ceramics, furniture, and other household or utilitarian objects. - pedestals - Solid, fixed supports found under such architectural elements as columns or balustrades, or built in to hold sculpture; may also be used for freestanding furniture supports, usually for decorative objects, sometimes incorporating cabinets or shelves; usually classically divided by tripartation into base, dado, and cap.
- sculpture (visual work) - Works of art in which images and forms are produced in relief, in intaglio, or in the round. It refers especially to those objects that retain the quality of being tangible objects or groups of objects. It refers particularly to art works created by carving or engraving a hard material, by molding or casting a malleable material, or by assembling parts to create a three-dimensional object. It is typically used to refer to large or medium-sized objects made of stone, wood, bronze, or another metal. Small objects are typically referred to as "carvings." As works become more diffused in space or time, or less tangible, use specific terms, such as "mail art" or "environmental art."
- silk (fiber) - Fine continuous protein fiber consisting primarily of fibroin filaments, secreted by silk caterpillars.
- silk (textile) - Textile made from silk fiber, which is a fiber derived from the cocoon of the silkworm moth.
- three-dimensional - Having, or appearing to have, the three dimensions of length, width, and height.
- wood (plant material) - The principal tissue of trees and other plants that provides both strength and a means of conducting nutrients. Wood is one of the most versatile materials known.
- woodcarving - The art of fashioning or ornamenting objects of wood by cutting with a sharp implement.
