Considered the greatest American playwright, Eugene O’Neill experimented with myth and symbolism in his grim and moving psychological dramas. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in1936 and won three Pulitzer Prizes. His plays include The Emperor Jones, Desire Under the Elms, The Iceman Cometh, and Long Day’s Journey into Night.
