- acrylic paint - Paint consisting of pigments or dyes bound in an emulsion of acrylic, which is a colorless, transparent, thermoplastic synthetic resin made by the polymerization of acrylic acid derivatives. Acrylic paint is water soluble while wet and fast drying, but once the paint has dried, it is flexible and resistant to water. Acrylic paint was first made commercially available in the 1950s.
- acrylic painting (technique) - The art or practice of producing creative works with acrylic paint.
- Australian - Describes the various types of artwork created by Aboriginal Australians and current inhabitants such as rock art, sculpture in wood, clay and sand, body decoration and bark painting, both before and after European colonization.
- Australian Aboriginal - Describes the various types of artwork created by the original inhabitants of Australia and their descendants. Traditional art forms are currently produced in most regions, but many contemporary Aboriginal artists, influenced by globalization, have begun to utilize a variety of media.
- Contemporary - Refers to painting, sculpture, graphic arts, and architecture dating from the recent past and present. It differs from modern art in that the term 'contemporary art' does not carry the implication of a non-traditional style, but instead refers only to the time period in which the work was created. 'Modern' and 'contemporary' are inherently fluid terms. The term 'contemporary' is sometimes more narrowly used to refer to art from ca. 1960 or 1970 up to the present.
- paintings (visual works) - Unique works in which images are formed primarily by the direct application of pigments suspended in oil, water, egg yolk, molten wax, or other liquid, arranged in masses of color, onto a generally two-dimensional surface.
- paper (fiber product) - Refers generally to all types of matted or felted sheets or webs of fiber formed and dried on a fine screen from a pulpy water suspension. The fibers may be animal, such as hair, silk or wool, or mineral, such as asbestos, or synthetic. However most paper is made from cellulosic plant fiber, such as from wood pulp, grass, cotton, linen, and straw.
